The SINP Farm Owner/Operator Program attracts experienced farmers to Saskatchewan to operate their own sustainable farming operations.   This stream for the Farm Owner/Operator Category is designed to allow young farm families to establish their lives and farming operations in our province’s rural areas.

Criteria: 

  • Have a minimum personal net worth of C$300,000 which is verifiable to 80% certainty;
  • Verifiable legal accumulation of funds to 80% certainty;
  • The principal applicant be no older than 40 years of age at time of application;
  • The principal applicant must have a minimum of three years farm ownership, farm management or practical farming experience;
  • Applicant is able to provide documented proposal for a commercial Saskatchewan farming opportunity based on research, consultations or formal coursework relevant to Saskatchewan agricultural conditions.  Hobby Farms are not eligible. The farming proposal must be a commercial venture undertaken with a reasonable expectation of profit.  In Saskatchewan, a qualified farming business must have a minimum of C$10,000 annual revenue; and,
  • Principal applicant or spouse must have marketable employment skills, based on education and experience that allows them to supplement their farming income.


Requirements:

  • Conduct an exploratory visit to Saskatchewan with a duration of at least five days prior to submitting their application;
  • Applicants must have real practical farming experience with skills that are relevant to Saskatchewan farming conditions;
  • Make a minimum equity investment of C$150,000 in a new or existing farming operation in Saskatchewan comprised of either capital assets (land, machinery) or working capital; and,
  • Make a C$75,000 refundable deposit into the Saskatchewan Entrepreneur Trust Fund (C$2,500 upon acceptance of application and C$72,500 upon nomination).

The SINP is not responsible for the decisions made by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) regarding the nominee’s eligibility for permanent residence, including issues of criminality, health and security.
